Ohio 2026 Attorney General Race
An open contest for Ohio Attorney General, the state's chief legal officer. Republican Keith Faber — currently State Auditor — faces Democrat John Kulewicz for the seat left open when Dave Yost hit his term limit (Yost resigned effective June 7, 2026).
The matchup
- Republican: Keith Faber (State Auditor; former Ohio Senate President).
- Democratic: John Kulewicz.
- Primary: May 5, 2026. Election: November 3, 2026.
Why it matters
The Ohio Attorney General decides whether Ohio joins multistate litigation on voting rights, abortion, health care, and the environment — one of the quietest but most powerful levers over residents' lives. The race is functionally "whose side will Ohio's lawyers be on."
