Lucas County Board of Commissioners
The three-member elected body that governs Lucas County — Toledo's county. Like Franklin and Hamilton, it uses the standard three-commissioner model (not the Cuyahoga charter).
Key facts
- Three members, elected countywide to staggered 4-year terms. In this solidly Democratic county the board is entirely Democratic and rarely contested in the general election.
- On the 2026 ballot: one seat — incumbent Lisa Sobecki (D), the 2026 board president — facing only write-in-nominated challengers (a Republican and a Libertarian). A safe Democratic hold. The county's other two commissioner seats are on the 2028 cycle.
- The County Auditor race (incumbent Katie Moline, D) is likewise a safe hold; every other row office is up in 2028.
Connections
- Emblematic of Toledo's safe-Democratic ballot — the opposite of the contested Hamilton County board. Elections are run by the county Board of Elections; see Election Administration in Ohio.
